Definition: Version is an identifier of a grouping of data (i.e. “Collection”, “Repository”, “Outputs and Reports”) for a set of characteristics used to indicate that a change in the information has occurred from one instance to another. This user-defined text field can be helpful with control of various copies.

What This Means: A term that is functional for users of ESP’s metadata dictionary tool, called DataSpecs. DataSpecs is used when developing an education agency’s data dictionary.
