Encryption
Definition: A way of coding information in a message so that if it is intercepted by someone as it travels over a network it cannot be read by the human eye. (As defined by the SIF Association.)
What This Means: Security and confidentiality are enhanced by encoding or encrypting data such that only the sender and receiver can interpret them.
