NCES (The National Center for Education Statistics)

 

Definition: NCES, located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences, is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education. (As defined by the SIF Association.)

What This Means: NCES manages groups such as the National Forum on Education Statistics, the Summer Data Conference, the MIS Conference, and other special events that facilitate the development of national standards and guidelines for managing education information systems and the improvment of education data quality.
