Logical Data Model

Definition: A logical data model (LDM) in systems engineering is a representation of an organization’s data, organized in terms of a particular data management technology.

What This Means: In the national education environment, the National Education Data Model (NEDM) is emerging as a universal logical data model. Each application in an education agency will have its own physical data model that should be consistent with the education agency’s logical data model and with the agency’s metadata standards as documented and referenced in its Information Systems Architecture.
